a [illegible] action in the throat where the inflammation is not very intense; but where this action is very intense, the more stim =ulating applications would be better I think, such as the spanish fly or spirits of turpentine; I would prefer the latter as being quicker in its effects. In some cases the tonsils are very much inflamed, in such cases it is recommended to wash them, with a solution of nitrate of silver. Powdered alum bloom from a quill on them is said to be equally effi =cacious as the former
